Is there anything honey can’t do ? Besides adding a delicious and and sweet taste to your tea and desserts, honey can straighten your immune system, sooth a sore throat, heal burns and wounds and …heal hangover. Don’t expect honey to get you out of bed fresh and clean after a night of drinking vodka straight out of the bottle but it will eliminate the alcohol left in the organism faster !
Use of honey in cosmetic
Honey’s amazing properties make it a widely used product in cosmetic and skin care. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. I know, every beauty bloggers and youtubers out there are raving about Manuka honey, and I have to agree with the fact that it’s a great one, but have you ever tried eucalyptus honey ? It’s my favorite honey of all time, it has a divine taste and it’s really effective as a skin care product whether it’s used to moisturize or purify the skin. Make sure to use pure organic honey for the best result. Here are 9 ways you can use honey :
1) Moisturizing mask
The first benefit of honey is obviously the moisture it can give to the skin. One teaspoon of honey on the skin for 15-20 minutes, then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Or you can add other ingredients for a glowing effect, such as milk, yogurt and floral waters.
2) Soothing mask
For sensitive skin and redness, use honey and aloe vera gel. You can also use it as a night pack mask and rinse it off the next morning.
3) Acne treatment mask
Honey is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, it can fight acne and blackheads, purify the skin and prevent breakouts. For more effective antibacterial effects, try eucalyptus honey. Honey and cinnamon mask is the most famous one for acne. Leave it 15 to 30 minutes. I use this mask twice a week and I get a beautiful healthy glow when I rinse it off.
4) Exfoliator for skin and lips
Honey and brown sugar or oats will gently exfoliate the skin to get rid of dead skin and accelerate skin cells renewal. You can also replace black sugar with coffee grounds. Leave it for 15 minutes and gently massage your skin with the mixture before rinsing it off, if your skin is too sensitive juste wash it off without rubbing it. The best homemade exfoliator for beautiful pink and kissable lips is definitely the honey and brown sugar mix.
5) Scar fader treatment
Be careful not to use lemon essential oil before an exposure to the sun, there’s a risk of photosensibilization. Massage it on your scars or dark spots, leave it for 15 minutes and rinse it off. You can also use it on your whole face, it’s an excellent brightening mask.
Don’t use it if your skin is too sensitive as baking soda can irritate, instead you can use a special mask for reactive skin:
6) Anti-aging mask
It can also work with coconut oil. Don’t use it if you have an oily, acne prone skin as it is a rich mask. 15 to 25 minutes.
7) Purifying mask for combination to oily skin
A great mask to purify the skin and get a natural and healthy glowing skin. Lemon is known to lighten the skin. Rinse it off after 20 minutes.
Again, since green clay can be harsh for sensitive skin and lemon can be irritating, this is a sensitive oily skin version :
8) Anti-oxidant mask
Ideal to get rid of toxines accumulated on the surface of the skin, and give a glow to a dull and tired skin. The secret ingredient is… CHOCOLATE !
Chocolate is an amazing anti-inflammatory and antioxidant component in beauty products. It will stimulate your microcirculation and tonifies your skin. The only problem with this mask is the urge to eat it, and the smell will make people want to lick your face so watch out ! Leave it for 30 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water.
9) The ultimate mask for a glowing skin
The magical ingredient is CARROT ! Carrots are full of vitamins and they give an amazing glow when used on the skin. It’s a shame that carrots are so underrated in the cosmetic industry. As a skin care component it gives so many benefits. Of course, I am not talking about Korean cosmetics, many brands such as SKINFOOD came with a carrot skincare set from the carrot based cleanser, toner to the carrot bb cream !
It’s my personal glowing mask recipe, you can replace green tea with any other floral water or natural toner you have I just love the effect of green tea on my skin. If your skin is dehydrated add a face oil such as olive oil, coconut or argan.
I guaranty you will get the healthiest most glowing skin you’ve ever dreamed of with theses masks !
